Komatsu Collaborate In Automation Qualification

Yesterday, Australia’s first nationally accredited qualifications in automation were launched!

The accredited qualifications were developed by South Metropolitan TAFE through $2 million in funding from Rio Tinto and collaboration with Komatsu, BHP, Roy Hill, FMG, Santos, South 32, Yara, Department of Training and Education, Science& Innovation, University of Western Australia, Scitech and the Chamber of Minerals and Energy.

Komatsu attended the launch as a major collaborator. Komatsu will continue to work with all partners to identify current and future skills needs, develop new qualifications and provide career pathways for graduates.

The new; Certificate II in Autonomous Workplace Operations, plus a Working Effectively in an Autonomous Workplace qualification, will ensure workers have the cutting edge skills necessary for future jobs, now and into the future, in emerging technologies and automation.

20 years ago, Komatsu Australia spearheaded the world first automation of mining equipment, which is now known to the industry as Autonomous Haulage Systems (AHS). Automation is the way Forward!
