To ensure the optimum performance and maximum uptime for your Komatsu equipment, regular oil analysis of your engine, transmission and hydraulic oils is essential.
At Komatsu Australia, we insist on KOWA (Komatsu Oil Wear Analysis) during the machine warranty period and if you enter into a fixed price servicing or service and maintenance contract.
However, once outside your warranty or any contract maintenance agreement, we strongly recommend you maintain regular KOWA testing as part of your Repair and Maintenance (R&M) program.
Komatsu’s KOWA Laboratories are a key component of our Condition Monitoring Services, which are based in Brisbane and Perth. These Laboratories provide some of the most sophisticated oil analysis available in Australia.
Tests conducted on oils include:
- spectroscopic
- infra–red analysis
- viscosity
- neutralisation number
- detection
- water detection
- particle analysis
- a wide range of physical tests.
The results of these tests show our CMS technicians the level of wear metal in each sample. When each test is combined with the machine history, our technicians can establish a wear trend, which helps to determine the life of a component. Other tests show technicians the level of other chemicals and elements in the oil which may affect component wear.
Abnormally high results from any test will normally lead the machine owner being alerted immediately to a potential problem. Therefore, regular KOWA monitoring should be a part of every machine owner’s maintenance program.
KOWA tests are very reasonably priced, and help bring you peace of mind, along with early warning of potential problems.
