Condition monitoring is a key element in ensuring earthmoving and mining equipment is performing to its optimum level, and in providing early warning of any potential component problems that may otherwise cause unscheduled downtime or expensive repairs.
Komatsu Australia’s Condition Monitoring Service (CMS) provides an essential service in monitoring the condition of machine components.
Information provided from our KOWA oil analysis laboratories and other sources is used to provide customers with details of the internal wear of components.
This information, when analysed and compared with standards that Komatsu has developed over many years and millions of machine hours, is used to provide the following:
- optimum change out time for components, ensuring on the one hand that components are not changed out before they have reached the end of their life, and on the other hand that they are changed out before failure
- early warning of potential failure (and an action plan to overcome this)
- warning of imminent failure.
This information can be used by customers to budget and schedule repairs with a minimum of downtime.
Komatsu CMS offers the following services:
- oil analysis for all types of equipment, covering any type of equipment that uses oil for lubrication or cooling
- coolant analysis for cooling system maintenance and troubleshooting
- grease analysis
- metallurgical inspections (surface crack detection, ultrasonic testing, NDT and failure analysis).
